Bulgaria Distributes Antiviral Drugs to Hospitals over Swine Flu

Bulgaria Deputy Health Minister, Valeri Mitrev, has reported that 127 000 doses of antiviral medicines ‘Tamiflu’ and ‘Relenza’ have been distributed to the country’s hospitals to treat swine flu.

Mitrev also reported that another 200 000 doses will be bought and distributed over the coming weeks. He was speaking on a visit to Yambol Hospital, where 9 patients are reported to have contracted the A(H1N1) virus.

Bulgaria Health Minister, Bozhidar Nanev, stated earlier that there are currently 277 laboratory-proven cases of the A(H1N1) virus - swine flu, in Bulgaria.

Bulgaria’s chief state health expert, Tencho Tenev, stated late Friday that at least 2 million Bulgarians will get the A(H1N1) virus over the coming months, as the country prepares to announce a swine flu epidemic.
