Police have arrested two people in the Plovdiv neighborhood of Stolipinovo for vote-buying in partial local elections, the Interior Ministry informed.

The runoff election for mayor of the Stolipinovo neighborhood, in which the candidates are from the governing center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party and the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedom (DPS) party, is being held Saturday.

Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, stated that the vote-buyers were detained early Saturday after a signal was sent to the State National Security Agency (DANS). A list of 700 voters names was found in their possession.

He concluded that arrest shows that Bulgarians are starting to gain trust in the authorities, as it is they who gave the warning regarding the offenders.
