Bulgaria's National Audit Office sent Friday to the Chief Prosecutor their report about the financial management of the budget and the property of the Council of Ministers from January 2008 to the end of July 2009.

The auditors' decision is based on the Audit Office Act according to which when there is evidence of crime the audit or the report about it are sent to the prosecution. The audit documents can be used to initiate legal proceedings, the National Audit Office explained.

The auditors further submitted their report to the Parliament because it was ordered by the MPs at the end of August. The audit included the books and the financial documentation of the Council of Ministers in order to verify their legality and authenticity and legality and authenticity in the collection, maintenance, management, expenses and balances of the properties of the Council.

The National Audit Office is still verifying the budget of the Council for the January-July, 2009 period in the “Determination of National Priorities” policy, the “National Compensatory Housing Fund” and “Administration” programs. This audit was also assigned by the Parliament and must be submitted by November 30, 2009.

At the end of September the National Audit Office refused to certify the 2008 fiscal report of the Council of Ministers
