The Sofia criminal police arrested Thursday three young men from the Black sea capital Varna over allegations of beating a man to death.

The information was reported by the Interior Ministry's press center.

The three, all of the age of 20, are charged with killing on October 17 the manager of a Sofia bar. On that same day they visited the bar and began openly smoking pot. Despite the numerous warnings from the manager, the young men refused to leave their table, located on the second floor of the bar. The argument quickly escalated into a scandal and ended with the fatal beating of the manager.

The signal about the crime was received on the 166 hot line around 5 pm.

A patrol car was immediately dispatched to the location. The police offered assistance to the manager and he was transported to the emergency medical center “Pirogov.” He was listed with head trauma and died from his injuries a week later.

Witnesses say one of the alleged perpetrators hit the victim on the head with a beer bottle while the other pushed him down the steps.

The three tried to hide from the police by changing their rental apartment, while one of them even stopped attending his college classes.

They are held under arrest for 24 hours. Witnesses have positively identified all three.
