Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov said that he will not be a witness at the trial of alleged Balkan Drug Lord Sreten Josic because he is not a civilian.

Borisov was commenting on the former Bulgarian PM Sergey Stanishev’s statement suggesting that he should go to the Belgrade trial.

He said; "I've arrested and extradited him as Interior Chief Secretary. I'm not like that joke [Stanishev]. Could our court call the Prime Minister of some country to be a witness? Is he not ashamed to call me ‘Citizen Borisov’, and to say that I had to appear as a witness for an extradited criminal, facing charges from international forces. There are those Biserov, Dobrev, Stanishev - this is their last breath. They are trying to purposley implicate me in front of those people there becasue Serbian PM Djindjic was bashed, right? This is the objective – where would the boss of the special services be a witness in a civil trial?. I didn’t arrest him him, I didn’t extradite him or what? Was he Prime Minister for four years – is he not ashamed?"

At the beginning of April Sreten Josic made headlines in Bulgaria, telling a Belgrade court he enjoyed the protection of high-ranking officials here, citing the names of the then Interior Chief Secretary Boyko Borisov, who was later elected Sofia mayor and prime minister of the country, and Nikolay Gigov, owner of Lokomotiv football club.

Borisov vehemently denied the allegations, accusing the former ruling three-party coalition of crafting a long-term strategy to discredit him.

Josic was officially charged on Monday with the murder of the owner of the Croatian magazine "National" Ivo Pukanic.

Ivo Pukanic, owner and editor-in-chief of the Croatian weekly "Nacional" and the publication's marketing director Niko Franic were killed by a car bomb on October 23 last year in downtown Zagreb.
