Kidnappers Demand EUR 500 000 for Bulgaria Businessman's Son

Bulgarian businessman, Rumen Guninski, has received a mobile telephone text message demanding EUR 500 000 for the release of his kidnapped son.

The message read, “We are holding your son – EUR 500 000 if you want to see him alive,” according to Bulgarian daily newspaper Standart. Guninski, a wealthy businessman from the town of Pravetz, has also been allegedly given three weeks by the kidnappers to gather together the money.

Rumen Gunenski Jr. was kidnapped in public in Sofia on October 19, 2009. On Monday the Bulgarian police found the van with which 22-year-old student had been kidnapped.

The van was found in the outskirts of Sofia. The police investigation showed that it had been stolen earlier in the Bulgarian capital.
