Bulgaria Economy Minister Heads for South Korea, Australia, Sri Lanka

Bulgaria's Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Transport, Traicho Traikov, is going to accompany President Parvanov in his state visits in South Korea, Australia, and Sri Lanka.

The delegation is also going to include Traikov’s deputy, Evgeni Angelov. Traikov and Angelov are going to participate in a Bulgarian-Korean business forum in South Korea entitled “Investment Climate and Business Opportunities in Bulgaria”.

Bulgaria’s Economy Minister is also going to visit the car plant and shipbuilding yard of Hyundai.

In 2008, Bulgaria’s trade with South Korea amounted to USD 156,8 M – Bulgaria’s export was worth USD 47,4 M, whereas its import amounted to USD 109,4 M.

Investment opportunities in Bulgaria will also be the main topic of the forum in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo where Traikov and Angelov will take part. Bulgaria’s trade balance with Sri Lanka is traditionally positive. In 2008, the total bilateral trade reached USD 13 M, which is its highest value in the last eight years.

In Australia, Traikov is going to have meetings with Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd; the Minister of State Resources, Energy, and Tourism, Martin Ferguson; and the Governor of New South Wales, Marie Bashir.

The Bulgarian delegation is going present the investment opportunities of the Bulgarian economy at a forum in Sydney organized by the European Australian Business Council.

The Bulgarian delegation will be in South Korea on October 25-27, and in Australia - on October 28-31, 2009.
