Bulgarian Grandparents Sell Baby Granddaughter for BGN 1350

Pleven police have arrested grandparents for selling their 6-month-old granddaughter for BGN 1350 in the Bulgarian village of Yasen, Pleven District.

The 20-year-old mother of the child reported her missing to the local Pleven police department on October 20. According to her the child was missing since June when she went abroad to work.

After the intervention of the police the baby was discovered the next day in a house in the village of Yasen.

After originally leaving the baby in a state home the mother claimed her child before leaving it in her parents care while working abroad. The 33-year-old grandmother and 40-year-old grandfather, who has a criminal record, then sold the baby to another family in the same village for BGN 1350.

The baby girl is now back with the mother and is in good health according to the local authorities, while the grandparents are being questioned by police.
