Bulgarian Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, has stated that only 88 out of 300 state-funded agencies currently pay their employees by electronic transfer.

Djankov said, during a meeting with businessmen in Razgrad on Thursday evening, that accountants from the agencies that don’t use the electronic payment method “go to the Central Bank each month for the employee salaries and thus take an unauthorized day off for shopping in the capital.”

Djankov stated that from the new year all state departments will settle primary and secondary payments using electronic payment only. He added that the Bulgarian Central Bank will close its desks that are used for the current payment system.

He concluded that even the Financial Supervisory Agency and the Agency for Economic Analysis and Forecasting have no system for electronic payments.
