The top managers of Microsoft Bulgaria presented Thursday in Sofia the new operational system of the IT giant, Windows 7.

“Windows 7 is mostly consumer-oriented. This is going to be our main focus,” said Ognyan Kiryakov, Managing Director of Microsoft Bulgaria, during the presentation.

The new thing for Bulgaria with Windows 7 will be its distribution as a Full Packaged Product. The company is also going to focus on OEM licenses which are said to be the easiest way for consumers to acquire the licensed operational system.

One proof of the fact that Windows 7 is more consumer-oriented is that, unlike the case with Vista, Miscrosoft has first presented the consumer version of Windows 7; the business version is to appear in mid November 2009.

The Bulgarian-language version of Windows 7 will be available on October 31, Microsoft Bulgaria has promised.

Another key feature of the consumer-oriented nature of Windows 7 is its lowered requirements, which means that one does not need to buy a brand-new computer in order to be able to use most of its features.

In 2008, 17% of the total income of Microsoft Bulgaria came from software distribution. However, the company managers have pointed out that the high level of piracy – about 63% in 2008 – remains very problematic.
