Galin Kostov, a former judge who has been arrested as a suspect for ordering the murder of Bulgarian businessman Stoyan Stoyanov, has declared he was innocent.
“I have no reasons to be ashamed. I have not committed the thing I am charged with,” Kostov said Monday before the court hearing which is supposed to rule on his permanent detention.
The former judge at the Varna District Court declared that Neno Stoyanov and Atanas Kolev – the two men he and his accomplice Stanislav Mihaylov (a former top civil servant) – allegedly hired to organize the kidnapping and murder of Stoyan Stoyanov – were his former clients from back in the days when he worked as a lawyer.
Kostov said the police were pressuring the court through the media by submitting to them one-sided information.
