The rightist Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) is holding Saturday a conference to discuss the party performance in the summer elections.

About 900 delegates are gathering in Sofia to hear the analysis of the party leader, Martin Dimitrov, of the UDF participation in the elections for Members of European Parliament and Bulgaria’s general elections. UDF took part in both as a member of the so-called "Blue Coalition" along with the other right-wing party – Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB).

In addition to discussions about the elections, the conference is to set the date for the election of the party leader.

The Head Secretary of the party, Ivan Sotirov, told Darik radio that the current leader, Martin Dimitrov, has lost trust of most of the UDF members and does not have the right to even run for the post.

Sotirov stated as examples the swap of votes during the previous UDF leader elections, irregularities in arranging the general elections ballots, and violations of the party code on Dimitrov’s part.

The internal vote is to be held at the end of November because it must be scheduled no later than 45 days of the date of the conference and no earlier than 30 days. Sotirov, who ran for party leader at the previous elections, told Darik he had not made a decision about his participation now.
