Three Bulgarian policemen from the northeast city of Razgrad are getting fired because of sexual intercourse they had with a 15-year-old girl, which constitutes criminal breach of trust.

This was announced Thursday by the Chief Commissar of the Interior Ministry, Kalin Georgiev.

The three men, who are about 30 years of age, were sent to work to the Black Sea city of Varna for the summer. This is when they committed “indecent sexual acts” with the girl in question.

The 15-year-old girl approached the policemen to alert them that a young man had tried to rape her on the beach. The officers took her to the apartment where they were staying, and did “all sorts of indecencies with her”, in the words of Commissar Georgiev, and taped all that.

“It is idiotic that they documented their crime,” the Chief Commissar said.

The girl was not raped as she went with the officers and participated in the intercourse voluntarily.

The crime was uncovered after an inspection of the Internal Security Directorate. The underage girl has also testified.

The three men have been charged with criminal breach of trust, abuse of power, and failure to perform their duties, and for having sex with a person between 14 and 18 years of age who does not understand the nature of the act.
