Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov is set to receive the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic from Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi on his visit to Bulgaria on Thursday.

The order is the highest state insignia in Italy. In Sofia Berlusconi will in turn be decorated with order Stara Planina with a ribbon by Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov at a special ceremony at the President's Office.

Borisov and Berlusconi, who arranged their meeting in Sofia a month ago at the international forum in Gdansk, are set to discuss nominations for EU Commissioners and energy projects –including EU compensation for the decommissioning of the units at Kozloduy NPP and Italian companies interested in funding the construction of Belene NPP.

"We know each other's aspirations and capacity and we will support each other," Borisov commented.

It is also expected that Borisov and Berlusconi will agree on the assistance of Italian anti-mafia police officers in Bulgaria's fight against illegal antiques smuggling as Italy has a vast experience in that area.
