The police believe the Bulgarian could help them unravel the mystery surrounding the death. A police source said: 'We do not think this man is involved in any way in Stephen's death but his testimony could prove vital. It is not known if Giorgio left Gately's flat before or after he was found dead, the Daily Mail reported.

A post-mortem examination on Gately’s body is expected to be carried out Tuesday because it is a public holiday in Spain Monday.

Meanwhile, Sir Elton John said he was 'stunned' by the death, describing Boyzone singer Gately as the 'kindest, gentlest soul'.
