Buglaria’s Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, said that more former Ministers from the Stanishev government would be charged in the coming weeks over violations.

In the southern city of Stara Zagora, Tsvetanov said Sunday the GERB government had already alerted the Prosecutor’s Office about abuses that it had uncovered, and the prosecutors were expected to act on those signals within a short period of time.

At the beginning of September, the former Agriculture Minister Valeri Tsvetanov (2008-2009) and the former head of the State Forestry Agency Stefan Yurukov were charged with grave violations in land swap deals, and other abuses of power.

The Interior Minister also said he had information that the former head of the Regional Police Directorate in Stara Zagora, Toncho Mihaylov, was involved in covering trade with illegal alcohol.

Tsvetanov, who is also one of the two Deputy Prime Ministers, made it clear there were no contradictions within the governing party GERB about the 2010 State Budget, which is presently being debated before its submission to the Parliament. He also said the actual figures in the government’s draft budget would become public when the Parliament starts to debate the bill.
