Bulgaria Domestic Trade Shrinks by 20% in August 2009 Y/Y

Bulgaria’s domestic trading shrank by 19,1% in August 2009 compared to its levels in the same month of 2008.

This has become clear from National Statistical Institute data released Friday.

The decreases in the trade of furniture, appliances, computers, and communication technology are between 20% and 20,4%.

The trading of pharmaceuticals and medical products has registered the smallest decline – 1,9%.

The retail trade has declined by 9,5%, while the wholesale trade has dropped by 18,5%, including machines (30% decline), computers and communication technology (25%), and raw materials and fuels (22,2%).
