MEP Demands Explanation from Bulgaria over Michael Shields Case

A MEP has demanded that Bulgaria explains why it released the man who confessed to the crime Michael Shields was convicted for.

"What's never been explained is why did they release Graham Sankey," North West England MEP Arlene McCarthy said.

McCarthy wants Bulgaria to admit a miscarriage of justice and quash Michael's conviction.

Michael, 23, got a royal pardon last month after more than four years in jail for the attempted murder of barman Martin Georgiev in 2005.
