The 295-meter Norwegian Jade liner stopped briefly at Bulgaria’s Black Sea port Varna Wednesday.

The Norwegian Jade is the largest passenger liner to ever visit Varna. Because of its size, the ship could not fit at the Varna station, and had to be anchored in the sea. The passengers who wished to see Varna had to be transported by boats.

The five-star liner is owned by the Norwegian Cruise Line company, and sails under the flag of the Bahamas. It was built in 2007, and has about 2 200 passengers, 800 of them Americans. The ship is serviced by a crew of 1 200 people.

Around 6 pm Wednesday night, the liner set off for the last stop on its Mediterranean and Black Sea tour, Istanbul.
