Germany Plus Retail Chain to Open 25 Stores Each Year in Bulgaria

The German retail stores chain Plus plans to open 25 supermarkets a year in Bulgaria.

The chain will open six discount stores in Bulgaria on October 8, the company has announced.

The new stores will be in Pernik, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Harmanli, Silistra, and two in Sevlievo.

Another 20 outlets will be launched by the end 2009. The company has already bought more than 70 plots for construction.

“There is potential for the chain to expand to 130 stores, so our plans are to open 25 new shops every year”, Plus Bulgaria managing director, Rainer Wendelberger, said.

Plus is the first discount stores chain operating on the Bulgarian market. Its assortment will consist of around 3 000 products, 40% of which will be produced by the chain's own brands.

Plus will work with over 180 Bulgarian supplier. All of them have been certified according to the European Union standards.
