The ownership over the Bulgaria capital Sofa heating utility Toplofikatsiya will be transferred to the municipality.

This has been announced Monday by the Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov.

The Sofia Municipality transferred gratuitously to the state its shares in Toplofikatsiya in the end of 2008.

The process will not be completed in the next few days, Traikov said. The loan that the company took from the Bulgarian Energy Holding (the GERB government took a decision to close it down a couple of months ago) in order to pay to the state owned natural gas distributor, Bulgargaz, will still be due after the transfer, the minister explained.

During a discussion on the Bulgarian energy market in the Parliament, Traikov said that he was still negotiating with the Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, on the cigarettes excise. He denied telling whether he was still backing the excise to be EUR 64 per 1 000 cigarettes, and not as Djankov proposed – EUR 76.
