A Bulgarian man with a long wrap sheet was arrested Sunday over suspicions of committing a double homicide.

The information was reported by the Interior Ministry’s press center as a joint action between the General Crimes Directorate, police from Vratsa and Montana and a team of criminal psychologists.

The man has a criminal record over numerous thefts and beatings in Sofia and all over Bulgaria and has served a jail sentence in the Sofia prison. He was detained near Sofia while preparing to commit another crime. Police confiscated a car, a bike, cell phones, masks, gloves and other items he used in his criminal activities. Police also found in the suspect’s villa an automatic gun, an optical rifle, and bullets.

The double murder happened in June in a house in the northwestern village of Rogozen near the city of Vratsa. A 54-year-old man and his 77-year-old mother were killed by blows with a sharp object. A large sum of money, gold jewelry and illegally owned guns were taken from the house.
