The 2008 audit of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers failed because of the data Chaos in the council, the short deadlines for the check up, and little present documentation.

This is how the head of the National Audit Office, prof. Valeri Dimitrov, explained the presence of 10% mistakes in the 2008 audit, which became the reason the Parliament not to accept it.

In an interview for Darik Radio, Dimitrov said that the there was a data chaos in the Council of Ministers, and even the new team there received little documentation. Some of the documents were scattered, and some even lost.

“It is very difficult to make an audit of such an institution, and to communicate with people who suffer from professional arrogance. The Council of Ministers mistakes are not political but accounting one”, he said.

Until 2002, there was no audit of the Council at all, and even in the Sofia Municipality the audits started in 2005, Dimitrov explained.

The National Audit Office will conduct check ups of all administration structures, and especially of those that deal with EU funds, he announced.
