The Sofia Municipality is working to solve the problem with the lack of graveyard plots, the Chief Architect of the Bulgarian capital, Petar Dikov, has announced.

Yet, the architect said that if in the next two years the municipality fails to create two new cemeteries, Sofia "will need a baling system", as quoted by BGNES, which is apparently supposed to stand for some new way of solving the problem with the graveyard plots shortage.

Petar Dikov did make it clear that the cemetery issues of the Bulgarian capital were really grave as Sofia had only one large, central cemetery, and two smaller ones in the Malashevtsi and the Bakarena Dolina Quarters. In his words, the southeast parts of Sofia, which are developing especially fast, had nowhere to berry their deceased people.

Dikov made those comments during a discussion of the Sofia Urban Plan Act organized by the local organization of the Bulgarian Socialist Party.

He reiterated his position that the Kremikovtzi factory had to be shut down and dismantled because of its environmental impact, and because it was infeasible to have an extracting industrial plant 400 km away from the nearest port.
