The best option for Bulgaria will be to keep one of the two jet planes bought by the previous government.

Bulgaria's Transport Minister, Alexander Tsvetkov, announced this Wednesday before entering the regular Council of Minister's session.

The conclusion is a result of the reports prepared by the Transport and the Justice Ministries, after the Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, asked last week for expert opinion on the matter.

In Tsvetkov's word, the option remains as announced last Wednesday. After the contract is broken, all the money paid for the jet so far will be transferred and added to the money given for the other one, which the government will keep. In this way the leasing company may not file claim for damages.

During the today's session of the Council of Ministers, the Justice Ministry will present a written opinion on whether this option will withstand if the case is brought to court.

Last week, PM Borisov said that Bulgaria might suffer financial losses of up to BGN 30 M if the contract for buying two government jets is broken.

The contracts for the airplanes were signed by the previous Bulgarian government, and the new government finds them to be unfavorable.

Borisov, explained last week that the country would lose at least BGN 15, if it returned one of the airplanes.

In case the leasing company decides to file a claim, the losses will increase to BGN 30 M. This is the reason PM Borisov to ask the Justice Ministry what are the possibilities for Bulgaria to lose only BGN 15 M.

"There is no logic in buying two old jets for USD 44 M each", Borisov expressed his indignation last Wednesday.
