Bulgaria Star Petrov Keeps Manchester City in Contention

Bulgaria winger Martin Petrov starred in Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over West Ham Monday night, keeping them in contention at the top of the English Premiership.

Petrov, making his first league start of the season, curled a low, 25-yard free-kick into the corner of the net to push City 2-1 ahead. He also set up the first goal for Man City striker Carlos Tevez.

The English media heaped praise on Petrov after his performance and many have called on City manager Mark Hughes to keep him in the starting line-up.

The win moved City up to fifth in the Premier League, level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham and third-placed Liverpool and three points behind joint leaders Manchester United and Chelsea.
