Bulgarian traffic police officers were stripped off by their colleagues as part of a check up for bribes taken by them.

This has been announced Wednesday by Ivan Savov, a police officer and member of the syndicate federation in the Interior Ministry, speaking for Darik Radio.

According to an order given by the Commissar General in the Interior Ministry, Kalin Georgiev, all traffic police officers and guarding police officers must report all the money they have before and after their shifts.

"A traffic police car on duty with two officers in it. A car stops next to them and policemen get out of it. They order the traffic police officers to take everything out of their pockets. If they have more money than the other policemen think their traffic police colleagues should have, a questioning starts. Where are the money from? Are you corrupted? Many of the traffic police officers are afraid to talk in public about these things, but there have been cases when officers are forced to take their clothes off", Savov explained.

A subscription list in support of those policeman who were punished by the law, while performing their professional duty. The Interior Ministry employees demand changes in the legislature and more rights to be given to them while on duty.
