Bulgaria Drug Addict Death Rate Is Fifth Highest in Europe

A recent study has shown that Bulgaria now has 30 000 registered drug addicts of which 3000 undergo regular treatment in drugs clinics.

Bulgaria occupies fifth place in Europe regarding the death rate among drug addicts aged under 25; 42 %. 98% of registered drug addicts in Bulgaria use heroin.

Results from a survey conducted among 5000 Sofia high school students have found that cocaine, amphetamines and ecstasy are all popular drugs amongst the teenagers.

More than 30 % of Bulgarian teenagers say they have tried marijuana and more than five per cent of respondents say they have used synthetic drugs.
