Bulgaria Telecom Merger Plagiarizes Italian Logo

A scandal surrounding the logo of Bulgaria's Vivacom is brewing just days after the announced merger between the telecom BTC and the mobile operator Vivatel.

The new logo is strikingly similar to the one of the Milan (Italy) based company for web design and internet products, which is also named Vivacom.

If the name coincidence was not enough, the two logos bear the same colors and design.

The logo of the Bulgarian Vivacom is "created" by the Bulgarian advertisement agency "Publicis Mark Group," which since July 1 has been in charge of all creative representations of the telecom for their upcoming merger.

"Publicis Mark Group" has been selected by a contest while the merger was celebrated Friday evening by a splendid performance in downtown Sofia.

At the moment, the Bulgarian Vivacom has declined to state how much they have paid for the logo and have not yet issued an official statement regarding the case. "Publicis Mark Group" have also declined any comments.
