Bulgaria's former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, said Sunday Bulgarians were inevitably going to face disappointment with the new government of Boyko Borisov and the GERB party.
"People are yet to see that the change will not be what they expect because life goes on, and in addition to restoring justice, social problems and the economic development of the country are also on the agenda," said Stanishev, who is also the Chair of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, in the northeast city of Shumen as quoted by BGNES.
"Now I see that many people are fired just because they were in the administration of the previous cabinet. We warned during the campaign that the GERB party is loaded with confrontation but the people did not believe us; we warned that there will be rightist policies that are beginning to be felt more and more; we warned that GERB would not complete many of the things we started, and this also applies to the energy projects," Stanishev stated.
In his words, his government was the most socially and welfare-oriented of all governments that Bulgaria has ever had. He made it clear that in its role as an opposition party, the BSP was going to fight first and foremost for keeping the "social commitments" of the state.
Stanishev also said he had a clear vision for the reforming of the Bulgarian Socialist Party that he would present at the party congress in October 2009, and that he would bid for the mandate of the party just as anyone else who might present a rival project.
Stanishev explained the BSP had to reformed all across the country as partial efforts only in Sofia would not suffice.
