Some of the Bulgarian tourists who were on board of the Lake Ohrid ship that went underwater in Macedonia Saturday are from the small town of Pirdop.

Pirdop is located to the east of the capital Sofia and to the northwest of the city of Plovdiv. Some of the tourists were also from the nearby municipalities of Chelopech and Anton.

According to the Mayor of Pirdop, there is still no information exactly how many people from her town were on the vacation to Macedonia. She did tell the BNR, however, that some Pirdop residents had managed to get in touch with their relatives who are in Ohrid after the accident.

The name of the firm that organized the excursion to Macedonia for the Pirdop residents is Klyunchev Ltd. The firm is headquartered in the southern Bulgarian town of Dimitrovgrad.

However, it is unclear whether that is also the firm that organized the transport of the Bulgarian tourists.

The head of the firm has left for Ohrid, and the Pirdop Mayor is expecting information from the Ilinden border crossing point about the names of the tourists who went to Macedonia on the ill-fated trip.
