Serbs, Bulgarians Aboard Sunk Macedonian Ship - Report

There have been many Bulgarian tourists and probably some Serbs aboard the boat that sank on a Macedonia's Lake Ohrid, according to reports.

At least thirteen Bulgarian tourists, who were sailing aboard the Ilinden ship, have died after it sank in the Ohrid lake some 200 meters off the coast, Macedonian media reported.

Rescue teams have pulled out seventeen bodies so far. Another fifty-three have been safely rescued, while five have been declared missing.

According to initial reports there were a group of fifty Bulgarians aboard the ship, who were on their way to the Saint Naum monastery.

Ilinden ship was sailing some 200 off the coast, when for still unknown reasons it sank.

A spokesman for Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry said official information about the tragedy can be expected Saturday evening or on Sunday.

Authorities fear that the death toll will continue to mount.
