The European Commission has rejected Bulgaria's compliance assessments for one more of the operational programs for EU funding.

Bulgaria's Executive Agency "Audit of EU Funds" has received Friday a letter returning the compliance assessment under the Human Resources Development operational program.

Ten days earlier, the EC rejected four other compliance assessments submitted by the Bulgarian authorities under operational programs "Transport", "Competitiveness", "Administrative Capacity", and "Technical Assistance".

All five of those assessments were submitted to the EC by the previous Bulgarian government of PM Sergey Stanishev. The fifth one was submitted on July 6, 2009, a day after Bulgaria's Parliamentary Elections on July 5.

Bulgaria's compliance assessments under the last two operational programs - Environment and Regional Development - are still to be submitted to the Commission.

Without the Commission approving the compliance assessments, Bulgaria cannot start receiving the interim payments, which is about 80% of the EUR 7 B that the country is supposed to get under the seven operational programs.
