The father of the two children involved in the Bulgarian-Polish custody case will sue Bulgaria in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

Todor Vasilev announced this himself during an improvised press conference in a park in the city of Plovdiv, Standart Daily reported.

He will file a case claiming that he was illegally sentenced by a Bulgarian court to hand his children, Nikoleta and Pavel, to his ex-wife, Babara, who is a Polish citizen. Mihail Ekimdzhiev will be his lawyer.

The Polish Ministry of Justice sent a message to Bulgaria on Tuesday ordering for them to send the second child, involved in the dramatic Asenovgrad custody battle, to Poland.

The Polish Ministry stated that mother, Barbara Vasileva, will await the arrival of 7-year-old Pavel who is currently living in Asenovgrad with his father.
