Kidnapped Bulgarian Aid Worker Set to Return Home

Danka Panchova, who was released on August 11 after being held captive by Somali militants for nine months, is set to return to Bulgaria later Wednesday.

Panchova is set to arrive at Sofia Airport early Wednesday afternoon. She met with her parents and a representative of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry in France last week and underwent a medical in Paris at the expense of "Action against Hunger", the humanitarian organization that she works for.

Panchova, who spent nine months in captivity in Somalia, has declined to talk to the media over a ban by "Action against Hunger". She was kidnapped together with five other colleagues in November 2008.

Last week the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry thanked France, Oman, and Egypt for helping with her release.
