Bulgaria Beats Basketball European Champions Russia

Bulgaria's basketball national team has beaten European champions Russia 89:88 in a dramatic match in the Universiada Hall in Sofia.

In a historic result for Bulgarian basketball the match was decided in the final second.

Pini Gershon's team had a strong start winning the first quarter 29:20. The second quarter went Russia's way 23:13 and the third was closer Russia winning 25:21. In the last quarter Bulgaria won 26:20 and secured a deserved victory.

Russia will look for revenge in a re-match on Tuesday at 18:00 again in the Universiada Hall.
