Bulgaria is starting the training of a new squadron of pilots of MiG-29 fighter planes.

This has been announced by Major General Valentin Popov, head of the training flights department of the Bulgarian Air Force, as quoted by BGNES.

Gen. Popov said that 6 pilots would be trained at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base, and another 6 - at the Bezmer Air Base. Thus, in his words, for the first time in ten years, Bulgaria will train a new polot squadron. The training will be completed by the end of the year.

The Bulgarian Air Force is preparing for an upcoming international military drills near the northeast town of Shabla. However, the military does not have the funds to quarter the pilots near Shabla so they will have to participate in the drills by taking off from the air bases at Graf Ignatievo and Bezmer.
