PM Borisov: Brussels Doesn't Care for Stanishev's Weeping

Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, said the EU institutions in Brussels were not interested in the complaints of his predecessor Sergey Stanishev.

"Brussels doesn't care for weeping like "Please, Comrade Teacher, Boyko is beating me", Borisov stated using a phrase that kids used to complain to their kindergarten teachers in the communist period.

Borisov's comment referred to Tuesday's statement of Stanishev that his party BSP was going to report any political purges made by the GERB government to Brussels.

"There has been continuity in any sector where there is no evidence of abuses", the new Prime Minister stated pointing to the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Ivan Iskrov and the head of the National Revenue Agency Krasimir Stefanov as examples of officials that had not been removed.

Borisov also stressed that no other government had ever worked so actively in August when everybody is on vacation.

The Prime Minister also announced after Wednesday's meeting of the government that the Cabinet was allocating about BGN 700 000 to the northeast city of Dobrich, which suffered flood damage, and to the northeast Municipality of Shabla, which was affected by an earthquake last week.
