Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, promised that former top-ranking officials would be punished for the violations they had committed.
"We are not going to spoil today's celebrations with the things that those bandits did throughout the years but you see the situation with the land swap deals, they took half of the Galata Cape. You see that things are starting to work out very well so in the coming 2-3 months they all are going to get what they deserve", said Borisov in Varna during the celebrations of the 130th birthday of the Bulgarian Navy.
The Prime Minister was apparently referring to the alleged violations committed by top-ranking officials during the time of the previous government of Sergey Stanishev, and to the scandalous land swap deals in particular, in which state-owned plots at top resorts were exchanged for much cheaper lands in the interior.
Borisov said that he was not a judge but that there definitely were going to be sentenced officials because the Bulgarian judiciary had understood the requirements of the EU. He made it clear he was seeing a change in the judicial system.
During the formal ceremony the Prime Minister promised that the government would do everything possible for the realization of the deal for the purchase of two corvettes from a French company (which are supposed to be built in the Varna Shipyard) but first had to find the money for that.
"We wish all Bulgarian naval officers health and the support of St. Nikola. Our naval officers are great guys and great professionals, and the vessels are good and have proven their qualities. Of course, we are going to continue to modernize the Navy", Borisov told the officers and civilians who attended the Navy ceremony.
