The former Chief Secretary of the Bulgarian Parliament, Ognyan Avramov, has denied the allegations that he has been involved in abuses connected with his position.

Last Friday, Ognyanov alleged tried to sneak out of the Parliament formal documentation as he was leaving his former work place with his belongings packed in several sacks.

Ognyanov was stopped at the exit by agents of the Bulgarian National Security Agency DANS, who searched his belongings and made a protocol of all the archive documentation that he was trying to take with him.

According to the former Parliament official, it was him who invited the agents to search his home. He explicitly denied the claims that DANS discovered EUR 60 000 in cash in his apartment telling Darik Radio he had never seen such a large sum of money in cash.

Avramov was asked to resign his position by the new Parliament Chair, Tsetska Tsacheva, on July 31. DANS agents are reported to still be going through the documents that he tried to sneak out in order to figure out what exactly they contain.
