Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov has accepted the resignation of Petko Sertov as the Director of the Bulgarian State National Security Agency (DANS).

After a meeting on Friday in which Sertov handed in his resignation, Borisov announced Monday that he had accepted Sertov's decision. He also received Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov's agreement before accepting the resignation, Darik Radio reported.

Borisov thanked Sertov for his work while at DANS and also stated that he will now help to optimize the work and authority of the agency.

The nomination of Tsvetlin Yovchev Yovchev as the new Director of DANS was also put forward by Borisov, again after the agreement of Parvanov. The nomination will be voted on by the Council of Ministers on August 5.

Yovchev was born on 7 May 1964 and is married with one child. He studied in Varna and then majored in Economics in Sofia. Yovchev has recently been the director of the counter-espionage department in DANS.
