Petar Stoychev has won the Marathon Swimming World Cup for the ninth successive time after a very close finish in Lac St-Jean, Canada.

Stoychev remained dominant in the 32 km open water event with a win in 6:36:29, while hometown favorite Simon Tobin of Canada snagged second in 6:36:38. Argetina's Damian Blaum who had been involved in the final push for the title came third.

Stoychev is now the FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix champion in an event where swimmers have to swim from 15 km to 57 km depending on the event. He has built up an unassailable lead over Blaum going into the final race in Dubai.
