Bulgaria Justice Minister Picks Judge, Prosecutors for Deputies

A judge and two prosecutors with long years of experience and proven expertise have been appointed Bulgaria's deputy justice ministers, it emerged on Thursday.

Zhaneta Petrova from the Supreme Administrative Court, Daniela Masheva from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office and Hristo Anguelov from the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor's Office will be the three deputies of Justice Minister Margarita Popova.

"These are people, with whom I can and have been working as a team, we come to this ministry together and we will leave together," said Minister Popova, who until recently headed the specialized unit for fighting fraud with EU funds and has been praised at home and from Brussels for her professionalism and good work.

"All three of them complement each other perfectly and can work as a good team," the minister added. "They are magistrates with long years of experience, they are honest people and excellent professionals."

Deputy Justice Minister Zhaneta Petrova will be in charge of legislation, Daniela Masheva will take over the issues dealing with international legal policy, while Hristo Anguelov will head the resource for the execution of punishments and court security.
