US police have arrested Bulgarian, Martin Antonov, for setting up a sophisticated cash-skimming operation in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Police said the sophisticated technology was first spotted by employees at Wachovia Bank and Bank of America ATMs, wfsb.com reported.

They added that a surveillance operation was set up, and within a few hours Antonov was arrested when he came to remove the device. They said the 34-year-old entered the country from Bulgaria on a Visa. He's being held on a USD 1,5 M bond.

Police said they busted Antonov before he could download card numbers and that the device was only on the ATM for a few hours.

The equipment used in the operation allows thieves to steal residents' ATM card and PIN numbers right at an ATM machine.

The local Wallingford Police concluded that they'd heard of such scams happening in New York and Boston, but were surprised to see it happen in Wallingford.
