Just 17% of all Bulgarians say they are well informed about the effects of the global financial crisis on their employer company.

The preliminary data comes from a poll conducted in May 2009 among working Bulgarians by Apeiron Research. The goal was to establish the relative connections between the level of the negative effect of the crisis on a particular business and the internal communications of the firm.

The research results show that most of the companies did not plan and realize effective measures to increase their employees' awareness regarding the new economic situation.

70% of all the polled say that did not notice any change in the style of communication and the information they receive from their employer.

The highest level of awareness is registered among people with top management jobs, freelancers and self-employed Bulgarians - one of every four is well informed. The worse informed are blue collar workers, people with lower education and income.

In comparison, before the beginning of the financial crisis, 41% of those polled said they had good knowledge of the company's policies and status.

The data is relevant for larger firms with over 250 employees.
