Controversial reports continue to surface regarding the kidnap of a young man in the capital Sofia, which was followed by the arrest of three people late on Thursday.

The abducted man is not a nephew of the former transport minister Vilhelm Kraus, sources say, denying earlier reports.

The kidnapped is reported to hold double citizenship - Bulgarian and German.

"If there is any relation between the kidnapped man and Vilhelm Kraus, this is not something that we know about," deputy senior prosecutor Roman Vassilev commented earlier in the day.

He said the victim is 23-year-old, but refused to disclose its name.

The three kidnappers were arrested late on Thursday in a special operation on Slivnitsa boulevard in the capital Sofia.

The news has revived the issue of kidnappings in Bulgaria, which has lately turned into one of the most lucrative businesses.
