Sixth Harry Potter Movie Sets World Box Office Record

British author J.K. Rowling appears on the red carpet at the world premiere of 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' by British director David Yates in Leicester Square, London, Britain, 07 July 2009.

The sixth Harry Potter movie grossed USD 104 M worldwide during its first day in movie theaters setting a new world record.

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince" based on the books by J.K. Rowling, raised USD 58,18 M in North America, and USD 45,85 M in the rest of the world, according to the announcement of Warner Bros Pictures.

The premiere of the movie took place on 3 000 screens around the world starting at 12:01 am on Friday; in Bulgaria it was shown in the capital Sofia and the southern city of Plovdiv.

Thus, the sixth Harry Potter movie broke the box office record set by the "Black Knight" movie about Batman in 2008.
