Three members of a Bulgarian family have died when a passenger train hit their car in Northern Greece.

Two adults and their 14-year-old daughter were killed while crossing the train track on a village road in the Komotini region of North-East Greece.

The crash also de-railed one of the train's carriages but there is no information regarding injuries to the passengers.

The train was en-route from Alexandropoulos to Thessalonica. Greek officials stated that the barriers and lights that warned traffic to stop before the track were working correctly.
