Policeman, Lyubomir Mitov, who was injured Friday during a shoot-out near the town of Svoge, underwent a new surgery Sunday.
The surgeons report they did not find any further complications with Mitov's internal organs, but say the next few days continue to be critical for his health condition.
Mitov was shot in the morning of July 10 in the Svoge area and was brought to the Military Academy Hospital in Sofia with two shotgun wounds, a broken jaw, torn liver and intestines. He had also suffered a significant blood loss.
At 6:04 am Friday a woman alerted the police that a luxurious jeep had been stolen close to the village of Bov. A police patrol was immediately sent to the scene and started chasing the car.
The ordeal started when the two thieves, who were later arrested by the police, broke into a house in Bov, beat up 2 women inside and stole BGN 1500, before taking an expensive Lincoln SUV.
The car and house are owned by Krasimir Ivanov, a.k.a Krasi the American. The attackers were allegedly his ex-employees. Police later found a cross-bow and ammunition in the jeep that also allegedly belonged to Ivanov.
