French Ambassador to Bulgaria, Etienne de Poncins, has stated that the EU expects results from the country's new administration.

Etienne De Poncins stated that "the EU expects Bulgaria to show visible results on the main issues causing anxiety - fight against corruption and crime and bigger efforts in the administration reform," Bulgarian daily newspaper Standart reported Wednesday.

The French Ambassador was among the first to congratulate Boyko Borisov on the night of the elections, "I told Mr Borisov he is welcome to Paris soon. I am sure Boyko Borisov and Nicolas Sarkozy would be happy to meet soon," added de Poncins.

Borisov received a congratulatory message from the French President Sarkozy soon after his election triumph.

Ambassador de Poncins concluded by stating that the new Bulgarian cabinet is expected to take explicit measures and not just promises and action plans. He also expects arrests and sentences that will change Bulgaria's image.
